Ubuntu goes purple

My comments on the new Ubuntu design for version 10.04 Lucid Lynx

If you have read my website before you will be aware that I am a fan of Ubuntu. I enjoy using this variant of Linux because it always feels a little more complete with greater emphasis on building an operating system suitable for noobs or power users. The initially installation is with all the application to get you online, word processing or editting photos. It's that simple.

If you want to add to the base installation again that is very simple and quick to configure the system. The only one issue with Ubuntu is the brown design. The packaged wallpapers are always attractive but I find the large mix of browns and oranges rather unflattering for another wise extremely capable operating system. This long suffering issue is due to be resolved in the latest iteration of Ubuntu, version 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

In the new version due in April the colour scheme will transition to a black and purple theme.

I believe the design reflects the maturity of the operating system and borrows heavily from the established sixth iteration of the Apple OS, Snow Leopard. I look forward to upgrading in April to the latest and greatest.
