Identify the devices or software suitable for your needs and budget can be a considerable challenge. What if the decision was dependent on your language. Finding hardware and software Localized for your need to be a considerable challenge for users. This could be especially difficult in the case of languages not constructed from Latin glyphs. On Friday, 28th August 2009 the decision for customers using Chinese glyphs become considerably easier.

Friday marked the launch of the latest version of the Apple operating system OS X 10.6.0. added to the Multi-Touch technology made popular by the iPhone product line adding the facility to draw Chinese characters for input using the touch pad of the MacBook and MacBook Pro ranges. This is an extremely unique feature for a notebook computer. Apple OS X is currently the most advanced multilingual operating systems currently available. The status was made possible through the implementation of the Unicode of character representation throughout the computer to allow users to enter non-ASCII and Latin characters.

News is currently rife concerning a future upcoming announcement form Apple concerning a new tablet computer. According to the Wall Street Journal sources close to the rumoured project acknowledge Steve Jobs is working closely to complete the product. Much like the iPhone, the tablet computer is expected to run a version OS X similar in nature to the iPhone or iPod Touch with extra features found in the desktop version.

It is not my intention to speculated the facilities and functionality of the rumoured device, said to be announced either in the final months 2009 or early 2010. Regardless of the announcement and launch date for the tablet computer I believe that the recent developments in Multi-Touch functionality will be central to the computers charm.

Whether the device is a graphics tablet, multimedia device or simply an oversized iPod Touch, Multi-Touch will be centre stage for input. It is my desire that the product will include the new character input technology to add a wide range of application and data capture method. For example the annotation of diagrams in class room situations would be fantastic development to note taking when combined with meta data and search technologies.
