This is brief review of current release candidate for Firefox 3

On the 16th May 2008 Mozilla launched Release Candidate 1 of the Firefox internet browser in 45 languages. Get Firefox 3.

Currently I am using the (Firefox) FF3 browser on my personal machine while currently at work my browser of choice is FF2. Since installing on my MacBook I have noticed some fantastic performance improvements and memory handling with 10 or more browser tabs open. Currently I find on FF2 with is a very memory hungry process.

At the core of FF3 is version 1.9 of the Gecko rendering engine.

The current version of Gecko dramatically improves the performance of FF. Functional goals for this release of Gecko include improved speed of start up, page rendering, tab switching, accessibility, internationalisation and stability.

I have found and sure I will continue to find the use of the new browser enjoyable and greatly effect the speed I surf the internet. I am extremely pleased to see that the memory issue has been resolved. This is especially important en light of the constant trend to increase the aggregate file size of web pages.

Pages with numerous images, java-script, multiple CSS files, flash and HTML could be as much as 130K.

Well in summary all things seem well for Mozilla and its Firefox browser and in turn its little brother Fennec
