Amazon Kindle: I have purchased a Kindle
On Thursday the 30th December I finally decided that I would buy myself a Wi-Fi only version of the Kindle.

So I have jumped on to the Amazon Kindle bandwagon. I am extremely excited about the impending arrival of my new reading device. For years I have been joined at the hip with my iPod so I am interested to see if having a device for reading makes me anymore likely to read.
Presently usually the only reading I may do is on the train when I commute home and thumb through the Evening Standard. I do feel there is a wealth of reading that has until now passed me by. As a child, adolescent and student I was a decidedly reluctant reader.
I think the Kindle is the device to have for reading books and not the iPad because of these reasons:
- The none glare screen will provide a better experience for reading in all lights because unlike the glass screen of the iPad.
- The battery life lasts three weeks without recharging with the wireless on.
- Finally Amazon has provided a wide range of Kindle application available on other devices and computers so I am not restricted to the reading device. I think this is an extremely important distinction between Amazon and an area which Apple presently trails.
What will be especially interesting as a historically less motivated reader will be whether I find a new interest in reading. Doing so would require me to carry yet another device around with me. Like most people I go about my life with a mobile phone and iPod. Will I start leaving the house religiously with the Kindle? Would this change in behaviour going to mean my iPod will loose it's mantel as my go to device for entertainment when commuting?
