Apple Sells Two Million iPads
My comments on Apple selling Two Million iPads in less than 60 days since its launch on 3rd April.
So on the 31st May Apple announced two million iPads had been shipped in less than 60 days since its launch on 3rd April. On the 28th May Apple began shipping the iPad in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. I went down to the Apple Store on Regents Street in London and experience the iPad Circus.
“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO.

3rd June I visited the same Apple Store during my lunch hour and tried out the iPad. I know understand why users of the device are impressed with the experience. It is a very attractive device which felt well balanced in my hand. I did however feel that it was slightly on the heavy side. I do not believe I would enjoy holding the device in my hands for extended period.
During the 10 minutes which I tried the iPad fired up iBooks and thumbed through the accompanying Winnie the Pooh book. The experience was very simple. It was a straight forward activity to decrease and increase text size and transition from one page to two pages was smooth. I did however feel the transition into the iBookstore was clunky. The application felt like an unpolished beta service.
That aside I am looking forward to trying out the iBooks application when I get the iOS 4 update for my iPhone 3G on the 21st June.
